Web With Confidence

If you have a computer and you have just connected to the internet you will want to know how to navigate this new big world which is the World Wide Web. Many people become overwhelmed with going online and surfing the internet. They feel it is very complicated and they have not the skills to do it. This lack of confidence stems from a lack of practice. The reality is that surfing the web is easier than ever. It just needs a little practice and with that you will wonder why you never tried surfing the net earlier.

The following are the 3 basic steps to go through in navigating the web with confidence.

Step 1

The first thing you need to do to enable you to surf the web is an internet browser. When you bought your computer you will probably have a browser that comes with the software packaged already installed. Most commonly the internet browser will is Microsoft's Internet Explorer. On your desktop or Quick Launch Bar there will be the Internet Explorer icon. Start by clicking on this icon.

Step 2

When you click on the icon the Internet Explorer window will appear on your screen. On the top of the screen you will see what is called an address bar. In this box you can type in the address of the website that you want to connect to. A website address is also referred to as an URL. These are easy to recognise as the begin with 'www' followed by the name of the website. If you know the website address or URL of the site you want to go to then type the address into the address bar. If you do not know a website address you can try a few popular sites such as USA Today.com or BBC.com.

Step 3

When you have typed in the website address you can press return and the website will soon appear on your screen. The web page that you will arrive at will be the home page. As with many website pages this will include various types of content. This will include text to read, photos and in some cases videos. You will also notice navigation bars that may appear on either side or along the top or bottom of the webpage. These contain anchor links that will take you to other pages within in the website. Within the navigation bar you will probably see a list of categories relating to different subjects on information the website provides. For example this can include News, Business, Sports or the Weather. It is just a matter of clicking on these category headings to access the information.

Broadband Tips

What you might not knew about broadband

Most net connections in our country run through a range of methods. This includes your connection too. Your connection could be a dialup, through the wire guy or through your mobile connection service provider. Needless to say, most Internet connections in our country are quite slow in comparison to international net standards. The question is, how does one find out, if your net connection is fast or slow?

One easy way to work out the solution is by opening the search site Google and search for a term or phrase. If the search result page opens up straight away, your internet speed is OK. If it actually takes between one or two seconds to one or two minutes to load, you may want to reconsider your net connection. Also, a search on Google takes less than one-fifth of a second in most cases. If you're sitting for more than 1 or 2 seconds, waiting for your search results to appear on it, you must consider using a better Internet connection, rather than cursing Google for being slow!

What is a fast way to surf the internet? The solution to this question is broadband. Though many of us hear this word being rebounded around almost all of the time, most of us actually do not know what the term essentially means. Broadband in short can be represented as a technique of connecting to the web. It is often known as broadband, due to its high speeds of Internet connectivity, without putting your phone on engage. The older varieties were typically known as narrowbands, owing to their speed of connection.

Why is it good? This query can be sufficiently answered by saying that the advantage of broadband generally lies in its speed of connection. As I mentioned earlier, website pages on slower connections can take up to over ten seconds to open, while downloading mails could take one or two minutes. With broadband, all this becomes so much faster! One of the prime advantages of broadband is that it allows you to work on multiple tabs with just about negligible loss of speed. It is fast enough to allow several people to use the same web connection if they are all networked together!

Higher speeds make sure that you like a lot more of feature rich areas on the web, particularly live TV and Radio. Broadband opens up a different side of the Net which you cannot possibly know with a slower connection.

If you are an online gamer, you would find the difference in response immediately. Besides, it also enables the Net to become a delightful experience for you. If you're still thinking of giving broadband a shot, I would suggest you to stop thinking. Go for it!

Broadband Internet

If you are a student who is truly dedicated to his or her studies, one place that is best to stay is the library. Library is considered to be a quiet place, where everyone is reading books and studying their lessons. We can see that there are thousands of old and new books that are stored in the library, which is very useful for most teachers and students that are dedicated to teaching and studying. Each book can focus on one topic, story or subject that the students may borrow one or more books as their source. Each student may borrow an average of one to five books per week in the library, which needs a library card for them to borrow. Books are a great source for students and teachers and it is nothing without them. If you search many subjects and topics for your assignments or projects using various books in the library, it may cost you more time to browse every page of it.

But what about using the internet as another source for all of your subjects? When your parents subscribed to a broadband internet package with high speed connection, it may be very useful for the kids. Instead of going to the library, they will use the internet as their virtual library. Why is it that the internet can be considered as your virtual library? When the students are searching for specific keywords using Google, Yahoo or Bing, the results will display in a matter of time, which is faster than browsing lots of books in the library. For every student who has a computer and internet connection at their home, they considered that the internet is a giant all-around book for all subjects or topics. More than 95% of the people around the world are now beginning to access the internet all the time, which they subscribed to their respective broadband internet provider.

Cable TV companies in the US are now offering broadband internet and digital phone services which may boost up their revenue from their subscribers. Their strategy is to implement a monthly subscription plan that requires their subscribers to pay their fees to them. In return, the customers may get a high speed internet connection at their home or at the internet cafe. Internet is very useful and valuable when it comes to the latest news around the world, research any articles they want or to have some fun in doing it. But the most important thing for the subscribers is to make sure that they use it in a nice way. Since the internet is their highest priority, we can see that libraries from various colleges and universities around the world are now providing internet services to the students and teachers. The school are spending their money to buy computers and broadband internet connection for students and teachers to research anything they want, as long it is related to their studies and teachings. The broadband internet is a perfect alternative for all of us. If the students and teachers cannot find what they want on any books in the library, the internet is always ready to be their backup as an amazing virtual library.
